The day after taking a family & friends, Child and Infant class a mom who attended the class called to tell us this:
She popped her daughter in the play pen so she could grab a quick shower. As she was getting out of the shower she noticed her daughter was having difficulty breathing. Rushing over to help, recalling the steps she had just learned the night before. Mom performed the Heimlich, producing the child's barrette. Apparently she needed a snack or thought she could do a better job with her hair. |

An officer, who completed his training a while ago, contacted us with the following story.
Dispatch sent me and my partner to the home of an 82 year old woman having a seizure. When we arrived the woman was not breathing and did not have a pulse. We began CPR, with my partner giving a breath, I began compressions. While I continued performing CPR my partner hooked up the AED. The AED analyzed the woman and advised us not to shock. The woman began to respond and breathe on her own before EMS arrived. |
